Vodafone Stock, Athens Stock Market Information Application

09/2002

Vodafone launches in 2002 its investors-targeted application, providing information on stocks and indices prices and generic information on the Athens Stock Exchange session. The application, deployed by Dialogos in cooperation with Intracom Holdings, is built upon Dialogos’ speech recognition system.
Vodafone subscribers have access to the automated stock application by dialing 1401 from their mobile phone. The Vodafone Stock solution is using Dialogos’ speech recognition technology, thus delivering a high recognition performance. The users, either investors or even irrelevant individuals, get real time information on the stocks and indices’ current prices and on each Stock Exchange session’s statistics and can also manage their personal portfolio. Navigation through this voice system is facilitated by the help menus and access to different types of information during the same call is possible according to the user’s voice commands.

The comparative advantage of speech-enabled stock applications is the directness of information diffusion both in terms of time necessary to access information and the needlessness to memorize stocks and indices’ distinctive codes. A multitude of expressions, which a user can use to access specific information, is recognized, thus allowing flexibility at the users’ verbal commands.
